Acrylic Original Painting "Stellar Gateway" Garden of the Gods Gateway and the Milky Way
Garden of the Gods is a world-renowned 1,341-acre public park in Colorado Springs famous for its dramatic 300-foot towering red sandstone formations against the backdrop of the rocky mountains including the snow-capped Pikes Peak. It is a registered National Natural Landmark and has been voted the #1 city park in the U.S.
The North and South Gateway Rocks are the massive 300-foot sandstone slabs that form the "entrance" to the Central Garden. North Gateway Rock is the taller of the two and the most photographed, and is home to the famous Kissing Camels formation at its peak. South Gateway Rock is located directly across the trail, and features several popular rock climbing routes, including the "Tower of Babel" on its northern end.
The "Gateway" is between these two giants on the paved Perkins Central Garden Trail provides the most iconic view of the park, perfectly framing a mountain in the distance.
Colorado features some of the darkest skies and highest altitude stargazing locations in the United States, making it a premier destination to view and photograph the Milky Way. Because of its dry air and vast pockets of undeveloped mountain territory, the state is home to numerous officially designated International Dark Sky places. The galactic core is visible from March to October, with the absolute peak viewing season occurring during late summer and early autumn when the galaxy's center rises highest in the sky.
This original acrylic painting "Stellar Gateway" shows the gateway in the garden of the gods with a mountain in the background and with the milky way above it in the nights sky with a cool purple and blue tone. This painting is on canvas and measures approximately 12 inches by 16 inches. This painting is a genuine, hand made creation.
