Longs Peak is the northernmost "fourteener" (a mountain over 14,000 feet) in the Rocky Mountains and the highest point in Rocky Mountain National Park. Standing at an impressive 14,259 feet (4,346 meters), this iconic, flat-topped landmark towers over the Front Range and is prominently featured on the Colorado State Quarter. Named after explorer Stephen Harriman Long, it is located roughly 9.6 miles southwest of Estes Park.

Colorado features some of the darkest skies and highest altitude stargazing locations in the United States, making it a premier destination to view and photograph the Milky Way. Because of its dry air and vast pockets of undeveloped mountain territory, the state is home to numerous officially designated International Dark Sky places. The galactic core is visible from March to October, with the absolute peak viewing season occurring during late summer and early autumn when the galaxy's center rises highest in the sky.

This original acrylic painting "Longs Peak Astral Pop" shows Longs Peak with the milky way above it in the nights sky with a cool purple and blue tone. This painting is on canvas and measures approximately 12 inches by 16 inches. This painting is a genuine, hand made creation.
